I am reading Colossians. Over and over the scripture tells us to be thankful in all things. Obviously God sees our hearts and knows we are an ungrateful lot by nature. And we are. What must we sound like to Him? Always asking for something. We hear His name thrown around in casual slang and even obscenity. Seldom are we thanking Him for His goodness and His gracious and generous gifts to us.
Colossians 3:15-17 And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
Colossians 2:6-7 Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.
Ephesians 5:4 Let there be no filthiness nor foolish talk nor crude joking, which are out of place, but instead let there be thanksgiving.
Let's just think on these three segments of scripture. Just three. There are many more, but these three will do for now.
Be thankful. Be mindful of what comes out of your mouth and what goes through your thoughts. Thank God for the life you have and the circumstances that surround you. Just see what He will do with your grateful heart.
This is just a blog about my thoughts, my family, my everyday life. Because I am a Christian and have ups and downs like everyone else, I hope it will encourage others to either turn to Christ for the first time, or lean on Him when times are rough. Often life is just random and funny. I started this blog after many years of writing to my church about our vacations. They began to encourage me to blog and finally I am. Thanks for reading.
