A new year. A fresh start. So many look at January as the month for big changes and new beginnings. I know I have. My resolutions were seldom resolved and goals were often left unachieved. Still, it was entertaining thinking of the things I wanted to accomplish.
I must say I have no such goals for this year...at least not yet. I do however make my daily longings known to God. Some days they seem like huge requests, impossible to attain were it not the Almighty God of the universe before me. Looking at the whole year ahead all at once would only lead me toward vague expectations of myself. God is waaaaay more specific. His design for me is to have joy unspeakable and perfect love toward others. I welcome the joy unspeakable and will work on that perfect love....with His help.
P.S. He wants that for you, too. Forget the yearly aspirations...the daily ones will be enough.
John 15: 9-12 "As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Abide in my love. If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father's commandments and abide in his love. These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full. This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you."
